Recipe: Who’s Your Paddy?

Who's Your Paddy?
Melbourne has its fair share of Irish-Australians, as well as a large and forever growing, Irish ex-pat community. I saw a documentary not so long ago on a campaign Australian Immigration was running in Ireland to recruit Irish youth to live and work in Australia, especially for industries with resource shortages.
Come St Patrick’s Day, the Irish make their presence especially well known. The streets and pubs become a sea of green leprechaun costumes and three leaf clovers. Why the 3 leaf clover? Well, the shamrock as it’s called is the symbol Saint Patrick used to represent the Holy Trinity.
As the patriotic gather to celebrate Ireland’s national day and pay tribute to their foremost Catholic Saint, it’s customary for the lovable larrikins to drink copious amounts of Guinness. I think I’d prefer a tasty green cocktail.
Happy St Patrick’s Day.
