Recipe: Spring Has Sprung

Spring Spritzer | Recipe | Melbourne Cocktails

It’s the first day of Spring and I’m excited. This morning I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and the sun was peeking through my blinds. I bounced out of bed an hour earlier than my alarm, feeling fantastic.

Spritzer season has finally arrived. Happy days.

Ingredients

  • 45 ml Reyka Vodka
  • 15 ml Lillet
  • 15 ml Earl Grey Syrup [see note]
  • Top with Daylesford Hepburn Springs Mineral Co Pink Grapefruit
  • Garnish: pink grapefruit wedge and 1tsp mixed peppercorns

Method

Add vodka, Lillet and earl grey syrup to shaker over ice. Shake to chill. Strain into wine glass. Top with ice cubes and pink grapefruit mineral water. Swizzle. Garnish.

Note: to premake earl grey syrup, add 1 cup water and 1tbs earl grey tea leaves to a small saucepan. Bring to the boil; reduce to simmer for 5 mins. Add ½ cup caster sugar and stir over low heat til dissolved. Remove from heat, cool and fine strain into glass container for storage. Makes approx 200ml.
