Recipe: Negroni Spiced Tea

Negroni Spiced Tea | Negroni Week 2015 | Melbourne Cocktails

Throughout the first week of June, the Negroni is celebrated far and wide. As part of Negroni Week, licensed venues around the World will be stirring things up with their unique variation on the traditional three ingredient cocktail.

Inspired to do something unique and something with an Australian theme, I created The Ultimate Australiana Afternoon Tea. [Click here to read more about Negroni Week and see my cake & cuppa creation.]

The spiced tea is designed to bring in spices from the Four Pillars Gin and accentuate notes of cinnamon, cardamom and star anise. Together with the Negroni Syrup, the pronounced flavours come together wonderfully.

Step 1: Negroni Syrup

  • 250 ml Campari
  • 250 ml Maidenii Sweet Vermouth
  • 250 ml Four Pillars Gin
  • 600 gm caster sugar
  • Zest of ½ an orange

Add all ingredients to pot. Place on stove on Medium heat. Bring to boiling point stirring, and then reduce to Low. Simmer for 30 minutes or until syrup is reduced to approximately 300 ml.
