Recipe: Mexican Mule

The partnership between tequila and lime has always been solid. So for a match made in heaven, take the concept of the classic mule and without offending the Russians switch vodka for tequila and ginger beer for ginger ale. The Mexican Mule is about as simple as it gets, but as they say the simplest things are always the best!
For this recipe I’m recommending Dulce Vida Reposado Organic Tequila, a 100 Proof Organic Tequila aged in American Bourbon Whiskey. And because it defeats the purpose to mix a super premium, organic spirit with an inferior mixer, I’m using Gingerella – an organic fair trade ginger ale from the Karma Cola range.
Ingredients
- 45ml tequila
- 15ml fresh lime juice
- 5ml sugar syrup
- ginger ale
- Garnish: lime wheels
- Serve short on the rocks
Method
Add ice, tequila, lime juice and sugar to mixing glass and stir. Strain into serving glass over ice cubes, then top with ginger ale and garnish.
Tip: try adding a slice of fresh jalapeno to spice things up
