Eau de Vie Popup – Top Shelf ‘15

Cocktail Book | Eau de Vie | Melbourne Cocktails

Since opening in 2014, Eau de Vie Melbourne has been embraced by locals and taken on the World.

A speakeasy bar with a prohibition era concept, Eau de Vie is as authentic 1920s as it’s going to get. A heavy wooden door is discreetly tucked into a concrete alcove down the bottom end of Malthouse Lane. If it weren’t for its cult following, the bar would almost be impossible to find. However, the queue to get in to the city’s most covert bar busts its secret entrance wide open.

Once inside, it’s difficult to work out whether you’re in a bar or at a show. Intimate, warm and very french, the venue is lavishly styled, the extravagance carried through to the cut crystal glassware, the jazz and the impeccable service. Bracer wearing, mustache-clad bartenders use molecular gastronomy to capture the imagination of patrons, liquid nitrogen the main ingredient in the cocktail theatrics.

Eau de Vie Melbourne has already been the recipient of a list of coveted awards and nominations. The most recent edition to the trophy cabinet was the Gourmand Awards 2015 – ‘World’s Best Cocktail Book’. And the accolades keep coming with Eau de Vie Melbourne a finalist at Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards 2015, making the bar one of the top four High Volume Cocktail Bars internationally.

Now, this weekend, Eau de Vie will be positioned front row and centre (literally) at Top Shelf Show, liquid nitrogen at the ready. The popup is set to be a hands down favourite at the event. Recreating the experience of the real Eau de Vie Melbourne, the popup will serve up an array of special treats matching the spectacle the bar has become renowned for.
